Service Description

RuCo Summer Reading Cohorts Prevent the summer slide and help your child enter the next school year confident and ready to read. The RuCo Summer Reading Cohort is a small-group literacy program designed by a certified teacher. Unlike traditional tutoring or worksheet-based programs, this cohort provides structured literacy instruction, guided reading, and interactive learning activities that strengthen foundational reading skills. Students will build reading confidence while working alongside peers in a supportive, boutique learning environment. Students will strengthen: • phonics and decoding strategies • high-frequency word recognition • vocabulary development • reading fluency and expression • comprehension through discussion and context clues • multiple-meaning words and language understanding Each session blends direct instruction, guided reading, literacy games, and hands-on learning activities to keep students engaged while building real reading momentum. Program Details Session Length: 1.5 hours Total Sessions: 8 sessions over 4 weeks Total Instruction Time: 12 hours Group Size: Limited to 8 students Small-group instruction allows students to receive individualized support while also benefiting from peer collaboration and discussion. Investment $250 – Current RuCo students $295 – New families Give your child the opportunity to strengthen reading skills, build confidence, and stay academically engaged during the summer months.
